Scott Carasik's NFL Draft Grades Round 1

Round 1 - Round 2 - Round 3 - Round 4 - Round 5 - Round 6 - Round 7

1 St. Louis Rams - QB Sam Bradford - 6'4-1/4" 236 - Oklahoma

If you need a franchise QB, you better get one, and St. Louis Did that. I love this pick for them. Grade: A+

2 Detroit Lions - DT Ndamukong Suh - 6'3-7/8" 307 - Nebraska

The Lions needed someone to play their 1-tech NT and Suh is a beast. Grade: A+

3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DT Gerald McCoy - 6'4-1/8" 295 - Oklahoma

The Buccaneers need a true UT to make their defense run. McCoy is just as big of a beast as Suh. Grade: A+

4 Washington Redskins - OT Trent Williams - 6'4-5/8" 315 - Oklahoma

I think Okung is better, but Williams makes a lot of sense too. Love this pick if Okung is gone. Grade: C

5 Kansas City Chiefs - S Eric Berry - 5'11-5/8" 211 - Tennessee

The best player in the draft goes 5th. love the value of this pick. Grade: A

6 Seattle Seahawks - OT Russell Okung - 6'5-1/4" 307 - Oklahoma State

Great pick for the Seahawks taking the guy who shouldn't have fell and is a great fit for the ZBS in Okung. Grade: A+

7 Cleveland Browns - CB Joe Haden - 5'10-3/4" 193 - Florida

They just brought in Sheldon Brown. I love the idea of Haden and Brown locking down their sides for the next couple of years. Grade: A

8 Oakland Raiders - MLB Rolando McClain - 6'3-3/8" 254- Tennessee

They need a MLB and take the best one in the draft. Al Davis makes a good pick for once. Grade: A+

9 Buffalo Bills - RB C.J. Spiller - 5'10-5/8" 196 - Clemson

Hunter made a great call on this one. But I think they needed to get a QB here. Grade: C

10 Jacksonville Jaguars - DT Tyson Alualu - 6'2-3/8" 295 - California

My favorite player in the draft outside of Andre Roberts. Will be able to jump right in at the 3-tech spot. A bit of a reach though. Grade: B

11 San Francisco 49ers - OT Anthony Davis - 6'5" 323 - Rutgers

First trade up and they take a pure RT here. love the pick and the trade. Grade: B+

12 San Diego Chargers - RB Ryan Mathews - 5'11-5/8" 218 - Fresno State

Mathews wasn't that great of a prospect. trading up for him with guys like Best and Dwyer out there was a bad move. Grade: D-

13 Philadelphia Eagles - DE Brandon Graham - 6'1-3/8" 268 - Michigan

Trading up and then taking the best pass rusher in the draft is brilliant. Love this move by Andy Reid. Grade: A+

14 Seattle Seahawks - S Earl Thomas - 5'10-1/4" 208 - Texas

The Seahawks have a huge need for a true FS. Thomas has the range and could truly help out the Seahawks in the Cover 2 they will now run. Grade: A+

15 New York Giants - DE Jason Pierre-Paul - 6'4-3/4" 270 - South Florida

I love the idea of them taking a Defensive End, but I think they took the wrong one. They should not have passed on Morgan Grade: B

16 Tennessee Titans - DE Derrick Morgan - 6'3" 266 - Georgia Tech

The Titans needed a Left Defensive End, and Derrick Morgan is the best one in the draft. I love his motor for Tennessee. Grade: A+

17 San Francisco 49ers - OG Mike Iupati - 6'5-1/8" 331 - Idaho

They really needed to revamp their offensive line. Iupati is a hell of a left guard and he can really help that offensive line. Grade: A+

18 Pittsburgh Steelers - C Maurkice Pouncey - 6'4-1/8" 304 - Florida

I love the idea of them taking this interior OL for the future. Pouncey is a beast who will start at Guard and later move to C. Grade: A

19 Atlanta Falcons - OLB Sean Weatherspoon - 6'1-3/8" 239 - Missouri

Atlanta had a huge need for the Outside Linebacker spot. Weatherspoon is a true leader with Ray Lewis style leadership. Grade: A+

20 Houston Texans - CB Kareem Jackson - 5'10-1/2" 196 - Alabama

This was a horrible pick with Kyle Wilson still on the board. Great pick positionally, but Wilson is way better here. Grade: D

21 Cincinnati Bengals - TE Jermaine Gresham -6'5-1/4" 261 - Oklahoma

I love htis pick. I would have taken Bryant here, but I'm glad to see the Bengals finally address their TE spot. Grade: A

22 Denver Broncos - WR Demaryius Thomas - 6'3-1/4" 224 - Georgia Tech

Thomas is an excellent WR, but I can't see him as being worth this pick. I think they should have gone Bryant, but I understand why they didn't. Grade: B+

23 Green Bay Packers - OT Bryan Bulaga - 6'5-3/8" 314 - Iowa

Bulaga is a huge steal here. I love the idea of the Packers taking a guy to play the LT spot and he is just a beast. Grade: A+

24 Dallas Cowboys - WR Dez Bryant - 6'2" 225 - Oklahoma State

The Cowboys would love to have a #1 WR who reminds them of Randy Moss to team with Miles Austin. Bryant is excellent but has baggage. Grade: A

25 Denver Broncos - QB Tim Tebow - 6'2-3/4" 236 - Florida

I didn't think this would have been worth the trade up. I love the pick but don't like trading up for him. But he is a franchise QB. Grade: C

26 Arizona Cardinals - NT Dan Williams - 6'2" 327 - Tennessee

I love this pick. Arizona gets a beastly NT to mix in with their already good DE's of Campbell and Dockett. Grade: A+

27 New England Patriots - CB Devin McCourty - 5'10-3/4" 193 - Rutgers

I didn't think that New England really needed this pick. I also thought Kyle Wilson was a better player. Grade: C

28 Miami Dolphins - DE Jared Odrick - 6'5" 304 - Penn State

I didn't think Miami had a huge need at DE, but Odrick is too good to pass up here. He could play DE in the base than UT in the passing downs. Grade: B

29 New York Jets - CB Kyle Wilson - 5'10" 194 - Boise State

I didn't think they needed a CB, but Wilson is easily the best player available and gives them a great secondary. I love this pick as it is a huge steal. Grade: A+

30 Detroit Lions - RB Jahvid Best - 5'10-1/8" 199 - California

They took Suh and couldn't get a better trade up here than for Best. Best is a true all-around back and will be a great compliment to Smith. Grade: A

31 Indianapolis Colts - DE Jerry Hughes - 6'1-3/4" 255 - TCU

A bit of a reach here. Didn't see him as a big need and thought they would have taken an interior pass rusher instead. Grade: B

32 New Orleans Saints - CB Patrick Robinson - 5'11-1/4" 190 - Florida State

New Orleans has 3 good corners and another good S/CB. I didn't see the need and they reached over a full round for him. Grade: F

Round 1 - Round 2 - Round 3 - Round 4 - Round 5 - Round 6 - Round 7
