The 2010 Draft Draft
By Scott Carasik
Talk about this on our forums!
The premise behind the dream draft is using the #16.5 pick in every round and taking the best players available. This is based on who you could have gotten value wise if you had those picks in every round and just how good someone's draft could have looked. I am going into this as if I have a team with no players and will just get the BPA in each round.
Round 1 - WR Dez Bryant - 6'2" 225 - Oklahoma State
WR may not have the highest positional value, but Bryant is my #7 player on my big board. He is also the top player available here. Bryant is very much a Michael Irvin-type prospect, in that if he can get his act together, he will easily be a top WR, but he needs to do it. He has all the talent and honestly, he can make a huge impact on any team.
Round 2 - OT Charles Brown - 6'5" 303 - Southern California
The OT is one of the biggest value positions out there. Charles Brown has all the abilities to be a top LT in the NFL. Once he gets some coaching, he can easily start for the Saints and will be a Jammal Brown type player for the Saints. He will be a long term solution for the Saints at LT and will be my long term solution there too.
Round 3 - DE Everson Griffen - 6'3" 273 - Southern California
He was easily worth a pick here in the middle of the 3rd round. I love his ability to get off the line but he needs some coaching work. He also needs some work in his motivation. But the raw talent is just too much to pass up here for me.
Round 4 - DE Ricky Sapp - 6'4" 252 - Clemson
Sapp is a top fit for a DE in the 4-3 or an OLB in the 3-4. He was one of those guys that easily stood out from the rest of the pack to me as someone who could play OLB in a 4-3 SLB role in the Jim Johnson style blitzing defense.
Round 5 - DT Arthur Jones - 6'3" 301 - Syracuse
After getting two DE's, I take a guy who will be a perfect fit for the 3-tech in a 4-3 defense or a 5-tech in the 3-4 defense. Jones gives a lot of versatility and will be a great fit for the Ravens on defense.
Round 6 - QB Tony Pike - 6'6" 223 - Cincinnati
Tony Pike is a top fit for the backup QB position. Pike is a guy who could also develop into a true #1 QB if given a shot. He reminds me a lot of the Mark Brunell or Matt Hasselbeck situation in Green Bay.
Round 7 - WR/TE Dorin Dickerson - 6'2" 226 - Pittsburgh
Dorin Dicherson will be an excellent fit for this offense across from Dez Bryant. He has the hands and the quickness to really make a difference on the field. He should be an instant starter in the slot for the Texans this year.
