Hi all! This is my first in hopefully many articles for ScarDraft.com and I decided to grade every single rookie that was drafted by a team, and if a team had any noteworthy undrafted FA’s, I’ll include them too.

Note: I will not be curving a grade because they were a later round pick or went undrafted; I welcome/encourage discussion via email at ScottDelleFave@Scardraft.com

Grades will range through A-F and there will be the occasional I for incomplete due to an injury before the pre-season.

San Francisco 49ers

Round 1, Pick 11 (11) (From Bears through Broncos) Anthony Davis OT 6'5" 323 Rutgers 8.3 16 Video

I’ve never liked this guy, even when he came out of college. I realize he’s only 21 years old, but he still struggled most of the season and needs to grow up and learn the position more. Grade D

Round 1, Pick 17 (17) (From Panthers) Mike Iupati OG 6'5" 331 Idaho

While I have extreme dislike for the previous pick, I really like this pick immensely; he will be a pro bowl caliber offensive lineman for years. Grade A

Round 2, Pick 17 (49) Taylor Mays FS 6'3" 230 Southern Cal

There wasn’t a more talked about defensive prospect in the draft class besides Ndamukong Suh, he is a freak athlete especially at his size, however the NFL isn’t all about freak athletes and their 40 times. By the end of November, Taylor was benched in favor of Reggie Smith at Free Safety, maybe this will humble the former Trojan. Grade C+

Round 3, Pick 27 (91) (From Chargers) Navorro Bowman LB 6'0" 242 Penn State

It’s a Penn State Linebacker, what could go wrong!? Ok seriously, Bowman started off the season as a special teams ace, and when an injury to star ILB Patrick Wills, he slipped right in and looked natural, and with Takeo Spikes being a FA the 49ers could have the inside of the front seven covered for years. Grade A-

Round 6, Pick 4 (173) (From Chiefs through Dolphins and Chargers) Anthony Dixon RB 6'1" 233 Mississippi State

It’s hard to break the starting line up as a rookie running back, especially when you have Frank Gore and it seemed like a resurgent Brian Westbrook. However, Gore fractured his hip and Dixon got some playing time, on 70 carries he had 237 yards and two TDs, also he had five catches for eleven yards. Grade C

Round 6, Pick 13 (182) Nate Byham TE 6'4" 268 Pittsburgh

Despite only having five catches for 27 yards and none after week six, Nate has prided himself as the old school blocking tight end, with Vernon Davis as his foil. Grade C+

Round 6, Pick 37 (206) (Compensatory selection) Kyle Williams WR 5'10" 188 Arizona State

He played in only four games all season long with only one catch for eight yards. Was marred with various small nagging injuries, I hope this isn’t a trend. Grade D

Round 7, Pick 17 (224) Phillip Adams DB 5'10" 192 South Carolina State

He had a decent year coming off the bench, until he fractured his ankle in week 16 that required surgery. If he can bounce back from this set back he could be a solid nickel back. Grade C+
